Check out Harry Catchpole testing the WRX Sti for Evo Magazine, he has a huge grin on his face!
Here we have the latest generation WRX Sti saloon. It’s a 2014/64 registered car finished in the fabulous (Best Colour for the Sti) Dark Metallic Grey with Half Leather Sports Seats. We sold this car to its second owner @ 398 miles 6 months ago, its been lovingly cared for since and has only used high days and holidays with the odometer still only reading 4,205 miles and condition is as good as you could possibly find for a car that’s done such mileage! Only for sale due to a change in the owners circumstances.
Its fully featured with all the usual refinements you would expect these days including Dual Zone Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Electric Windows, Central Locking, Bluetooth Phone, USB and Auxiliary Audio Input Jack, Multifunction Steering Wheel, Keyless Entry, Heated Power Folding Mirrors, Self-Levelling LED Headlights, Headlamp Washers, Multi-Function Display, Privacy Glass, Hill Start Assist etc.
The new WRX Sti has a host of detail changes and some big ones too such as the bodyshell being 40% stiffer than the previous model. the Steering Rack is 15% quicker too, there is 20% less body roll and the throttle response is improved. Suspension has been fully overhauled with new dampers and geometry, it does feel a very different and much Improved car.

Overall, the Subaru remains a very different experience to most of the cars on sale today. Refreshingly so, in many ways
Harry Catchpole (with a big grin on his face) said “it’s a lot of fun, a breath of fresh air – I like it a lot “

“Our first drive of the STI has us grinning ear-to-ear for its Tarzan-like grip in the road, its accessible, useable engine punch and it’s accurate steering. Its chassis is so well balanced and the more and more you drive it, the more it melts into you and you start to realise just how good this car is. It’s a supreme point-to-point performer.
The STI is a more polished performer than its predecessor, but don’t confuse polished for bland. Of the three drive modes, ‘Intelligent’ is the pick for stop-start traffic, but even ‘Sports Sharp’ – the most extreme mode – sees this high-performance saloon perfectly liveable day-to-day, even in terms of ride quality”
“How good is it around bends? Sublime. On the soaked Swedish roads that we tested on, the STI held on like fat-rubbered sports car in the dry. Keep the revs above 3000rpm and there’s a constant answer whenever you flatten your right foot, maximising the turbo boost and the 300lb ft of torque. Turn-in is pretty good, and steering response near instant, but its steering weight is a little inconsistent. It lacks precision on long, sweeping bends, but on the tight stuff it’s spot on, allowing you to place this saloon with absolute accuracy. Even with VDC off, the torque vectoring (which can’t be turned off) and all-wheel drive will help push the rear around a bend if you overcook it and lose the nose into a bend”
An interesting fact tantamount to the quality of engineering Fuji Heavy Industries put into Subaru is that 98% of the cars they built 15 years ago are still registered and running today!
While I’ve a general high regard for a number of motoring journalists and often use their reports in our sales adverts I have to take issue with some comments I’ve read regarding the poor quality of the interior of the new WRX Sti. Subaru have come a long way in recent years and while not up to the material quality of the new Porsche Boxster sitting alongside it in our showroom it’s truly not that far behind, the build quality itself is comparable and the WRX Sti comes with a level of equipment standard that would cost a fortune on the options list of many German Marques! …… You don’t have to take my word for it either, come compare yourself!
